Troy Wymer commenced his tenure with the Wayne Township Fire Department in 2005, where he assumed the role of a seasoned fire officer in an urban setting. Over his fifteen-plus years of dedicated service, he has undertaken various roles within the department. These encompass serving on the Hazardous Material Response Team, taking on administrative responsibilities, and even holding the esteemed position of Appointed Captain from 2007 to 2009. In essence, he has demonstrated his comprehensive knowledge across nearly every level of the fire department. 

In addition to his physically demanding duties, Troy Wymer has seized unique opportunities within the department. He authored several guidelines, including the “Guideline for Responding to Incidents of Violence and Civil Unrest 2017 Standard Operating Guideline Release.” Troy is responsible for fire prevention, investigations, and public information in his current role. Once again, Troy thrives in this multi-faceted role, embracing its variety.

Troy Wymer also contributes to the BCFS Health and Human Services Incident Management Team as a Reservist. He has been an integral part of the team since 2018, assuming various roles, including Reservist Member of the Federal Contract Incident Management Team, Planning Section Chief, Deputy Planning Section Chief, and Division Supervisor. Troy has actively responded to several emergencies through these roles, including Hurricane Laura in Texas in 2020.

Prior to his current positions, Troy Wymer collaborated with various teams and assumed a range of different roles. His earlier positions encompassed serving as a Planning Team Manager with FEMA’s Urban Search & Rescue, holding the rank of Lieutenant at Brownsburg Fire Territory, and working as an Emergency Medical Technician at Wishard Memorial Hospital EMS.

Throughout his career, Troy Wymer has assumed various roles in both operational and administrative capacities. While a significant portion of his expertise is on emergency preparedness and planning, he has consistently strived to diversify his skill set whenever opportunities arise. His areas of expertise include fire and emergency response, specialized rescue, and instructional roles. His other skills include readiness, payroll administration, facilitation, disaster preparedness, and operations management.

Troy Wymer’s unwavering commitment and diligent efforts have received well-deserved recognition. Throughout the years, he has been honored with numerous accolades, such as the Medal of Bravery and the Medal of Merit. He was also distinguished as the State of Indiana Rescue of the Year and was pivotal in achieving multiple unit acknowledgments.
